Bichectomy
Achieve a more sculpted and athletic facial appearance
What is it?
Help patients with full, round, or “chubby” cheeks achieve a more sculpted and athletic facial appearance. A buccal lipectomy is also known as a bichectomy. After a bichectomy, the patient will notice that they appear to have lost weight and have a more contoured face with more prominent cheekbones.
The removal of the buccal fat pad is done through a small incision inside the mouth, without a scar, and heals quickly. This is usually done under local anesthesia.
Candidates
It is a procedure indicated for people who want to reduce the bulge in their cheeks secondary to the presence of these fat pads that produce a face that is too round, thus contributing to a facial imbalance.
If you are dissatisfied with the round “baby” face that occurs when the buccal fat pads you had as a child remain with you into adulthood, contact us to schedule a consultation for buccal fat removal.
Post-surgery
- It is possible to resume work activities as well as physical activity the day after the procedure.
- The final results are seen in a time that varies between 6 and 8 weeks.
